Druk Path Trek

It is a 5 days Trek, goes to High Altitude and is moderately strenuous. The Trek route passes through some beautiful High Altitude Lakes. It starts from Paro and ends in Thimphu. It is a popular Trek route. The highest point is 3800 Meters.

 

 

 

 

Itinerary (11 Days)

Day 01
Destinations: Paro (Arrival at Airport) | Area altitude: 2,280m

  • Representative of Bhutan Mystical Tours will welcome and receive you in the airport
  • Visit the Ta Dzong (The National museum)
  • Visit Rinpong Dzong (Means the ‘heap of jewels’)
  • Scroll over the paro town
  • Transfer to the Hotel

Day 02
Destinations: Paro | Excursion to Taktsang Monastery | Area altitude: 2,280m

  • An excursion to view the spectacular Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery
  • Drive to the ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong 16 km up the valley. Built in 1647 by the great Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal
  • Experience an unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m)
  • On the way back, visit Kichu Lhakhang, built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo

Day 03
Destination: Paro - Jele Dzong (Start of Trek) | Area altitude: 3,560m | Distance: 10kms | Walking Time: 4-5hrs | ascent: 1,090 meters

  • The trek begins above the National Museum
  • Climb till we reach camp
  • The campsite is near the old Jele Dzong

Day 04
Destination: Jele Dzong - Jangchulakha | Area altitude: 3770m; Distance: 10kms | Walking Time: 3-4 hours | ascent: 310meters | descent: 50meters

  • Trek starts with a short climb, till we reach camp

Day 05
Destination: Jangchulakha - Jimilangtso | Area altitude: 3,870m | Distance: 11kms | Walking Time: 4hrs | ascent: 330meters | descent: 230meters

  • The trail follows the ridge
  • The camp is close to Lake Jimilangtso

Day 06
Destination: Jimilangtso - Simkota | Area altitude: 4,110m | Distance: 11kms | Time: 4hrs | ascent: 820meters| descent: 400meters

  • The trail takes you through dwarf rhododendron trees past the lake of Janetso
  • Overnight camp

Day 07
Destination: Simkota - Phajoding - Thimphu | Area altitude: 2,520m Distance: 15 kms | Time: 6-7hrs | ascent: 130meters | descent: 1820meters

  • Slowly descend down to Phajoding Monastery from where Thimphu town is visible
  • After lunch drive to the Traditional Medicine Institute
  • Takin Preserve Centre
  • Sangay Gang View Point and to the Largest Statue of Buddha

Day 08
Destination: Thimphu Sightseeing | Area Altitude: 2,320m | Time taken: Full day

  • Visit to the National Memorial Chorten (1974) built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk
  • The Dupthop Lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan
  • Visit the National Library
  • Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive
  • Visit the Handicrafts Emporium
  • Visit to the Tashichho Dzong

Day 09
Destination: Thimphu - Punakha | Area altitude: 1,310m | Travelling distance: 72kms | Time taken: 3hrs

  • Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass
  • Visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal
  • Visit Chime Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. The Temple is also known as "the Temple of Fertility"

Day 10
Destination: Punakha - Thimphu - Paro | Area altitude: 2,280m | Travelling distance: 126kms.

  • Drive to Paro via Thimphu
  • Afternoon, free for shopping
  • Evening, drive to Paro

Day 11 Departure

  • Early morning, drive to the airport and farewell
